Reflection on Blogging
It has been about one term since I started this blog. One general reaction statement: Blogging is interesting. It allows us to express our thoughts and opinions (like a diary, or should I say, an electronic diary.) It is also a good way of improving our writing skills as constantly writing essays and stories might be boring to some.
I like how blogging is flexible as we can edit it anytime. Also, as said above, it is a good way of improving our writing skills without actually writing it down on paper as it can be quite tiring. On the other hand, typing is also much faster than writing (depending on the individual, but for me, it is).
However, whatever we write HAS to be formal, as they are part of our assignments. This might be a little hard (though not impossible) as when typing, some people are already used to typing informally. Of course, I might have done that in this or the previous entries. Maybe, allow informal language (not as formal as a complaint letter) but only to a certain extent so we can still learn something from blogging.
Another thing is about the topics that we are given to write about. I feel that the topics should be wider so that we can have a variety of content and opinions. The first blog prompt was good - The First Two Weeks in Secondary One. There was alot to talk about and different people have different "first two weeks".
Lastly, I feel that the Reading Habits and Electronic Bookshelf (weread.com) are useful as they help us to monitor our reading and keep track of the books we have read. With the Electronic Bookshelf, we can share the books with others (readers of this blog) and they can know what type of books we like to read and what type of person we are (adventurous - adventure stories etc.)
In conclusion, blogging is a good way for us to improve on our English. It is also a form of communication with the world as we can post entries about what we think and how we feel about something and the others can reply as comments.
