Book Review: Starseeker by Tim Bowler
Book: StarseekerAuthor: Tim BowlerPages: 334A boy talented in music is forced by his gang to break into a grouchy and rich woman's house and get the jewellery box to prove that he has got what it take to join the gang. He finds the jewellery box and on top of that, he stumbles upon a surprising discovery of a girl locked up. He then gets into trouble with his gang for not bringing back the jewellery box, gets into trouble with the grouchy woman for breaking in and starts getting involved with the locked-up girl.
This book entitled "Starseeker" written by Tim Bowler involves many simple and complex relationships between the main character, Luke, and his mother, father (who passed away a few months ago), to-be stepfather, Mrs. Little, Miranda (the girl he has a crush on), Natalie and Skin and his gang. Slowly, Luke understands more about his gift in music and realises the meaning of the weird sounds he hears. During parts of the story, Luke sees a non-existent five-pointed star. Towards the end, this star miraculously saves him from getting burnt to death in the fire that was setup by Skin after disobeying him.
This is a fantastic and touching book that explores the life of a teenager. The situations in the book can be closely associated with real-life happenings. Written with lyricism, drama and power, this is a wonderful novel. A must read!
